Varying in altitude from 111 to 35 metres, La Roche-Clermault is bordered to the west by the Négron. This watercourse receives the Quincampois flows from the neighbouring commune of Seuilly, before flowing into the Vienne on the Cinais lands.

Description

  1. While the village lies on the hillside, the church and cemetery are located at the foot of the hill. Dedicated to Saint-Martin, this twelfth-century building with its listed bell tower was altered and enlarged in the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries. Unique in the canton, the side gallery, known as the caquetoire, is attached to the north and west facades of the church.

  2. Dovecotes played an important role in the Chinon economy. There are some fine examples: the fuie de la Bonnelière still has its turning tree, the dovecote at Nazelle is in danger of falling into ruin, and a few bolts attest to the existence of a dovecote at the manor house of la Raisonnière.
