Through wineyards, forest, and walnut trees fields, take the time to discover one of Richelieu's villages and its heritage !

Description

At the church's square, take a left, and keep left to reach La Rancheraie hamlet, which is home to underground tunnels. The manor in the hamlet has some beautiful architectural elements.

Keep walking towards Oiré.

Before Charron Farm, an isolated farm, you'll go through woods mostly made of oaks and pine trees. Take a minute to appreciate the shade they provide. You'll be able to observe numerous species of birds here.

The way back to La-Tour-Saint-Gelin goes through wineyards. The village keeps producing its own wines, locally renowned. You'll see some walnut trees on your walk, once an emblem of Richelieu's land. Nowadays, campaigns of walnut trees planting are being lead. Who knows ? One day, the village might produce its emblematic walnut oil.

In the village, you'll pass the castle whose chatelain had a unique privilege : every time there was a wedding reception, the bride was to bring him two roasted chickens and the first soup served.
