The village of Pouzay welcomes you along a timeless trail of peace and tranquillity.

The return journey takes you into the heart of the village, along the old towpath, for a calm and soothing stroll along the Vienne river.

This dynamic loop takes in the Vienne valley on several occasions.

Description

  1. The route begins and ends at the beach, with its playground, picnic tables and guinguette in summer.
  2. After crossing the Vienne river, you leave the village via rue des Basses Terres and discover several houses on the banks of the Vienne.
  3. Along the banks of the Vienne, you'll see two lakes where you can see horses in a park.
  4. Leaving the banks of the Vienne, you come to the “deep ditch”. This manor house, dating back to 1410, is the oldest in the region.
  5. This quiet, grassy path runs alongside the Bois de la Billette.
  6. On the way back to the village and the Vienne river, you can admire the surrounding countryside and lovely views as far as the Haute Rue farm.
  7. Discover the Notre-Dame church. Rebuilt in the 19th century, its geminated bell tower dates back to the 12th century. It is topped by a 15th-century hexagonal stone spire.
