Description

  1. The village of Ligré
Discover this pretty little village nestled in the heart of the Chinon vineyards. Lose yourself in the narrow streets of Les Roches Saint-Paul. Curious and picturesque, this hamlet, with its 16th and 17th century houses, is clustered around the priory that was once the center and soul of the village.
  2. The Ligré dolmen
Escape the loop for a moment to admire the dolmen built in the Neolithic period, between the 5th and 3rd millennia BC. This dolmen, known as Le Carroi Bon Air, stands in the middle of a cultivated field to the north of the village of Ligré. Classified as a Historic Monument, it measures 7 meters long and 3.5 meters wide.
  3. The vineyard
A renowned terroir praised by Rabelais in his day, who attributed the best ageing wines to it, Ligré's vineyard production is richly diversified: red, white and rosé wines stamped Chinon AOC. Stop off for a tasting at one of the many producers along the loop.
  4. Assay, the village and the pond
Stop off in Assay and discover its 15th-century church, streams and rivers. A few pedal strokes away, take the Voie Verte to the Etang d'Assay, a 35-hectare fish farm complex. An observatory allows you to discover the wildlife and migratory birds. Before the French Revolution, leech breeding ponds were located here. Today, the pond is classified as a sensitive natural area.
