Description
-
Bel-Air Castle: Built in the 1920s by Henri Oudin, founder of the cardboard factory, and owned by the municipality since 1997, it features a large park with French gardens. It overlooks the village and hosts numerous activities. It is located near the church and the Saint-Martin spring.
-
Village du Feuillet: A pretty village built in a wooded valley, which in the 17th and 19th centuries was covered with terraced crops.
-
Chaix Manor (late 15th, 16th and 18th centuries): Built on the Champeigne plateau, it probably stands on the site of a 12th-century fortress. The courtyard façade, embellished with a pentagonal stair tower, is thought to date from the 16th century.
-
Brandon Tower (Athée-sur-Cher): Circular tower with walls almost 32 metres thick and 20 metres high. It was probably part of a fortress dismantled by the English in the 14th century. It was the seat of a castellany under the authority of Montbazon.
-
Croix de l’Apothicaresse: This cross was erected in the 17th century to the south-east of La Gautellerie. It bears a single inscription, ‘reminiscere’ (remember). According to legend, this cross was erected in memory of the wife of an apothecary who poisoned herself with plants gathered at this spot.
-
Chemin de Saint-Martin (Way of the Bishop of Tours): To unite the towns linked to the history of Saint Martin and enable visitors to walk in the footsteps of this Roman legionnaire, an iconic figure in Touraine, the Saint-Martin de Tours European Cultural Centre has created three marked walking routes. Truyes is crossed by the Bishop of Tours Trail, which is 236 km long between the Poitiers and Tours railway stations.
