Immerse yourself in Doué-en-Anjou's heritage.

May 1970. It's market day in Doué-la-Fontaine. A dapper forty-something, Louise, wife of an illustrious nursery-owner, invites you to see her town in roses! Accompanied by her discovery booklet, set off with her from station to station to understand the landscapes she passes through and discover a piece of the town's history.

Mushroom beds, old quarries, steaming fields and troglodytic caves, explore the town's unusual sites with her. The heritage trail will awaken all your senses and immerse you in the town's history: imagine Doué-la-Fontaine under the sea, or the washerwomen bustling about the great washhouse, spot the jittes, discover the secrets of the roses... You'll discover the life of its inhabitants above and below ground!

Description

From the Mystères des Faluns parking lot, go to the starting station on the left of the Mystère des Faluns entrance.

Then follow the signs on the ground. The numbered stations indicate a stopping point, with explanations in the discovery booklet.

The 1st station is at the foot of the starting station, please refer to the booklet. Go straight up to reach Rue des Perrières on the left, where you'll find the 2nd station, refer to the booklet.
Continue straight on for 500m, then turn left into rue des Récollets. Fork right on rue des Oliviers for 180m.
Turn left on rue des Arènes. Discover the 3rd station at Arènes, refer to the booklet. Continue straight ahead to reach the 4th station, see booklet. Take rue des Arènes to the traffic circle, place René Nicolas.
Turn left into Place Saint-Pierre, then right into Rue de l'Image. At the end of the street is the 5th station, please refer to the booklet. Turn right on Place Saint-Pierre and walk down alongside the church to reach Place Théophane Venard. Turn right on rue des Fontaines and continue to the wash-house, where you'll find the 6th station, refer to the booklet.
Take the street to the left of the washhouse (Place des Fontaines). Turn right into rue du Théâtre and continue up rue de la Tour. At the end of the street, turn left into rue des Caves and follow it for 300m. Rue des Caves is the 7th station, refer to the booklet.
At the end of Rue des Caves, turn right onto Rue de Cunault. Turn right onto rue de Versailles. Follow rue Montault, then turn right onto rue Fourchette. Turn left on rue François, then follow rue des Tilleuls for 400m. Turn left on rue du Moulin Cartier. At the intersection, turn right on rue d'Anjou. Continue for 400m to reach the Mystère des Faluns.
