The village of Pouzay welcomes you along a timeless trail of peace and tranquillity. 
The return journey takes you into the heart of the village, along the old towpath, for a calm and soothing stroll close to the Vienne river.
This dynamic loop takes in the Vienne valley on several occasions.

Description

  1. The route begins and ends at the beach, with its playground and picnic tables, and guinguette in summer.
  2. After crossing the Vienne river, you leave the town via rue des Basses Terres and discover several houses on the banks of the Vienne.
  3. As you walk along the banks of the Vienne, you'll come across two ponds where you can see horses in a park.
  4. You now take the towpath along the Vienne and its wooded vegetation, where you can see boats, a reminder of the days when there were professional fishermen.
  5. Leaving the banks of the Vienne, you walk along the Allais residential park.
  6. Take advantage of this climb to look back over the river. Along the way, you'll come across a fuie (small dovecote).
  7. Before crossing the hamlet of Beauvais, you'll find on your left a magnificent view of the Château de la Rolandière and the surrounding countryside. As you turn around, you can admire the Vienne valley.
  8. Now enjoy a pleasant walk along the Bois Brulé.
  9. A lone tree attracts curiosity by its appearance and the fact that hundreds of butterflies have made it their home.
  10. Vineyard lodge
  11. The path continues with woodland on one side and a view of scattered vines, overgrown fields and isolated trees on the other.
  12. As you return to the village and the Vienne river, you can admire the surrounding countryside and lovely views as far as the Haute Rue farm.
  13. After crossing through a residential area, past the calvary, you enter the center of Pouzay.
  14. Here you can discover the Notre-Dame church. Rebuilt in the 19th century, its square bell tower with geminated bays dates back to the 12th century. It is topped by a 15th-century hexagonal stone spire.
