The Authion Valley, between the Anjou Loire and the wooded hillsides
From Saumur to Angers, this valley stretches between the Loire and the wooded foothills of the Baugé area. In these luminous landscapes that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage, the Loire levee offers breathtaking views of the Royal River. The nearby villages with their beautiful tufa stone facades and their guinguettes (typical French open-air bars, often with live music) worth a stop-over.

Between marshland and Authion riversides
Andard, at ten minutes from Angers, is an great place for strolls and picnics along the towpath of the Authion River. Brain-sur-Allonnes, attached to its horticultural tradition, highlights its 800 hectares of wetland by thematic trails, particularly in the marshes of the Amont meadows, crisscrossed by footbridges and pontoons overlooking ponds and reed beds.

Private Châteaux and objects of curiosity
Corné is situated between river and forest and preserves, in addition to a small stone bridge, testimonies of its past hemp-growing activity. Seven hectares of poplar groves have been converted into bocage meadows with a pond that is accessible to the public.  Bauné is distinguished by its charming buildings: Saint-Victor Manor, Château of Bruères, Château of Briançon and Saint-Symphorien church whose presbytery dates from the 18th century. Cornillé-les-Caves, labeled “Village de charme” (charming village), got beautiful residences made of tufa stone and picturesque cave dwellings. In Beaufort-en-Anjou you will discover the ruins of the castle, the covered marketplace, town mansions and also the Joseph Denais Museum which houses a veritable cabinet of curiosities with over 9,000 items. The Romanesque church of Fontaine-Guérin is remarkable by its steeple – a spire in a twisted shape. In Mazé, the château of Montgeoffroy is nestled in a park of 4 hectares and preserves precious furniture and a kitchen with 260 copper pots.
